Founded in 1992, Chartwell is a New York based private equity firm that has completed over $2 billion of transactions and has approximately $750 million of equity capital under management. We invest in middle market companies with strong market positions, sound business models and meaningful growth prospects that can benefit from our strategic, financial and operational support. Chartwell focuses on solving family succession issues, intricate tax and public securities problems, and establishing strategic partnerships. We have partnered in investments with Fortune 500 companies such as Ford Motor Company, Mobil Oil Corporation and Avis Budget Group, and take an active role in the corporate development of our portfolio companies.

Chartwell's cohesive and experienced investment team has worked together since 2001.

In 2004, Chartwell completed investing its second fund, which totaled approximately $250 million. In March 2005, Chartwell established an investment partnership with Leucadia National Corporation which has successfully invested approximately $450 million in two acquisitions.

Chartwell reviews investment opportunities across a wide spectrum of industries, including manufacturing, energy and natural resources, infrastructure, building products, distribution, business services and consumer products. Transaction types include buyouts, recapitalizations, and growth equity investments in niche market leaders as well as turnarounds and restructurings in out of favor and cyclical sectors.

We currently have investments in Richard Childress Racing, PPC Industries, Carey International, Idaho Timber, Keen Energy Services, Easton-Bell Sports, and PlayCore. Selected prior investments include Griffith Consumers Company, Petro Stopping Centers, and SunPark.
